A Promise To Love

This book review is for the novel "A Promise to Love" by Serena B. Miller.

While the cover for this book is very pretty I had a hard time getting into the story at first.

The main guys loony wife freaked me out a little at the beginning but it quickly got better after she was gone.

Serena sets the book up so that you really can't help but feel for the lonely single dad, Joshua and the abused immigrant Ingrid.

The set up of the book is very clever and while it took me a little bit to really get into the story I did end up liking it.

I liked the way that Ingrid was the one to blurt out a proposal and I liked watching them fall in love.

Serena writes very descriptively and helps paint the image of her characters with her words.

Ingrid Larsen is destitute, alone in a strange land and finds herself at the hands of a harsh task master. Regardless of her problems, however, she is determined to find her brother who disappeared into the logging camps.

When her path crosses with a heartbroken single dad who more than has his hands full with all of his now motherless children, she thinks she may have found the answer to both of their looming problems.

If you enjoy historical fiction then I think you will like this one.
