Postcards times 2 Blog Tour!

Today for review we actually have a double whammy! This includes the first AND second book in the "Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn" series.

I have never had the pleasure before this of reading anything by Evangeline Kelley but I am glad I picked these up.

The one thing I wasn't that thrilled with was the cover choices for the books. While they are pretty watercolor style covers they dated the books a bit I thought. Personally, I am big on what covers look like and have had good ones draw me into picking up the book which sometimes leads to discovering a great story! With that said the story behind the covers is very good!

With book one "Seaside Harmony" we meet the three sister we will come to cheer on as the book progresses.

Ms. Kelley's writing style is very descriptive and I could almost imagine my toes sinking into that sun-warmed sand and the sound of waves crashing down the beach. The tightness of your nose as it gets slightly burned from a happy afternoon spent at the beach and sticky salt spray sticking to your skin as you trudge home sun sated and happy.

If you can make someone imagine they are in the setting you describe then I call that a success!

~~~~~~~~~~ (Seaside Harmony)~~~~~~~~~~
Caroline Marris is pulled toward Nantucket Island for a getaway with her two sisters.
What they don't realize is that more than just rest and fun await them on this island.
When she convinces them to buy an old inn their mother held dear, a mystery waits within it's walls.
The question remains whether or not easily distracted Caroline can be kept on track long enough to make this new dream a reality?
~~~~~~~~~(Sunflower Summer)~~~~~~~~~~

Misty Harbor Inn is finally having it's official opening and Gracie (middle sister) has a huge decision she needs to make in the midst of all of this.
Opening this Inn definitely comes with a learning curve. They not only need to learn how to run their new business venture they have a lot to learn about themselves and each other.

The mystery continues in Sunflower Summer with more heart and sisterly bonding that the first book started.

I think that you will enjoy the story that both books blend together to tell!

Hope you all are having an amazing weekend!

Jenny

*It Happened At The Fair* Blog Tour

Buckle up ladies and gents! We have a new book by Deeanne Gist!
It is called "It Happened At The Fair"!

So for anyone who is a fan of Deeanne's work you need to pick up this new one :)
If you have never read any of her work do yourself a favor and start!

I get so excited when I see that Deeanne has a new book out and this one was no exception!

As you can probably tell by the title this book is set back in 1893 when the Chicago World's Fair was happening.

I loved getting a glimpse of what it must have been like to get to go to the long ago fair and how people lived back then!

~~~~~~~~~~~
Cullen McNamara has put everything on the line for what he believes in. His inventions mean the world to him and he believes that not only can he make things better but that he can succeed with them. Thus the risk and the hopeful reward.
But when he tries to make his dream come true he realizes that the noise is sodeafening in the Machinery Hall at the fair that is absolutely makes talking with his potential buyers completely impossible. This could very well spell disaster for him and everything he wagered on this possibility of success.
Realizing that he must do something right away he comes up with the idea of hiring someone to teach him to read lips.
His intended teacher however really has no desire to participate in his tutoring.
Being taught to read lips translates into spending much time staring at her nice ones and Cullen soon finds himself completely carried away by his feelings for Della.
With so many things happening in Cullen's life and so many things at stake, what will fall away and what will remain?
~~~~~~~~~

To have those questions answered you must read the book for yourself! Which I recommend you do!
You can purchase a copy of this great book for yourself HERE.

Great job Mrs. Gist!!! Love it!

Love At Any Cost

Today's book review focuses on Love At Any Cost by Julie Lessman.
It is book 1 in The Heart of San Francisco series!

I like the fact of how relateable Julie's characters are. For me helps draw you into the story and care about what happens to the characters as they live their lives. That is the mark of a good story.
If you want to keep turning the pages to find out what happens and trying to read faster so you can then you know you have a good book in your hands.

~~~~~~~~~~
Cassidy McClare thought that she had exactly what she wanted until she is rudely rejected by a man who was just looking for a fortune and could care less about who she was as a person.
Traveling west with the hopes of a happy visit with her cousins to ease her mind and heart, Cassidy settles into life in California. But it seems as soon as she starts to get her feet back under, that the best looking man she's ever met comes along and steals her already bruised heart. But Jamie is looking to marry well and that isn't something Cassidy can offer him.
~~~~~~~~~~

Money, heartbreak, distrust, love and questions. It makes for a great novel! And Julie Lessman puts it all together seamlessly!

Pick up a copy and see for yourself!

~Moonlight Masquerade~

We are going to talk about Moonlight Masquerade in todays post.

The first thing I have to say about this is that whoever named this was defintly in the groove when they came up with this title!

The title just paints such a vivid picture in your mind! Combine that title with the beautiful cover and you will be excited to pick up this great regency romance novel!

I am such a fan of regency novels that I was super eager to read this book!

It combines all the great things that make a book great. You have romance, you have mystery, you have excitement until the last page. I think that Ruth Axtell hit this one out of the park!

~~~~~~~~~~
Lady Celine Wexham exudes quiet grace and elegance. She leads the life of a wealthy widow who moves in the upper crust of society with style. Even though she is now a British citizen she is French by birth and the British Foreign Office has reason to believe that she just may be a spy.
They feel she is in the perfect position to be doing just that and send in Rees Phillips, from their office, to pose as her temporary butler. His assignment is to find out is the beautiful widow is also a beautiful spy for Napoleon.
But what seems like a situation that should be cut and dried seems to become more complicated as Ree's gets to know the enigma that is Lady Celine.
~~~~~~~~~~

Great book that I recommend especially if you enjoy Regency Romances!

Happy weekend all!

Weddings By Design

This is a review for the novel "Picture Perfect" by Janice Thompson.
It is the first book in the series by Janice, Weddings by Design.

I have loved all of Janice's books so far that I have read especially the ones with Bella Neeley in them!
I was super excited to see that she had a new series coming out and one that indeed included our favorite Bella!

This book was definitely not a source of disappointment at all and I loved how she weaved a new beloved character into the story while seamlessly adding Bella and her lovable and gigantic Italian family into the story!

This book had just about everything you could want from an old nemesis to a new love.

We follow Hannah McDermott along as she tries to find her feet running an ever successful photography business out of her own studio. While she may look like she has it all figured out, in Hannah's mind she has nothing figured. She is the last remaining unmarried daughter left in her parents house, seemingly clumsy at times and a handsome fellow photography who she sees as her fiercest competition. Throw in a crazy celebrity wedding, a beyond demanding publicist and a girl who just needs to find her joy in life again and you have Hannah. If she can just learn to let go and let God she just might find things she never knew she was looking for with people she might have otherwise considered one huge threat to her very way of life.

Sometimes letting go and learning to not doubt yourself all of the time is the best way to get ahead.

I really enjoyed this book overall and am eager to read the next one in this series!! Keep them coming, Janice!

Hope you all enjoy this book as much as I did!

Jenny

Love Finds You in Glacier Bay Alaska

This review is for the novel "Love Finds You in Glacier Bay Alaska" by Tricia Goyer & Ocieanna Fleiss.

I really like all of the Love Finds you books and this one was no exception.
This book pretty much keeps you on your toes as you never seem to know what to expect as this story twists and turns. I like that you not only get to see Ginny and Brett's story but you get to see Ellie's story too so you have several different stories happening in one.
 It is a really interesting read and very unique the way she gets to read Ellie's story told through old letters.

~~~~~~~~~
Ginny Marshall is a an LA resident that is one step away from her dream of a recording contract and a handsome, successful boyfriend on her arm. The one thing Ginny can't seem to forget is the man she left behind when fame called her name. The one person left in the world who still holds half her heart.
Not understanding why she cannot let go of Brett Miller, she puts off her contract and travels to the wilds of Glacier Bay Alaska intent on closure so she can move on with the rest of her life and stop being constantly reminded of Brett.
What she finds in Alaska is far, far different than what she ever expected to find and a journey she isn't sure she is quite ready to take.
The Tutor's Daughter
This book review is for the novel "The Tutor's Daughter" by Julie Klassen.
I have to start out by admitting to being a super fan of Julie's books! As soon as I saw the email for this one and knew that she had a new book coming out I REALLY wanted to read it and very eagerly waited for the package containing this lovely new adventure to arrive in the mail.
Her books remind me so much of Jane Austin while definitely having her own unique spin on this lovely time period. The only annoying thing about this book is when you finish reading it and want so much more of the story or at least a new next book to dive into!
I cannot highly recommend The Tutor's Daughter enough. Even if you have never read one of Julie's books before I really believe that you will become just as a much of a fan of her work as I am almost as soon as you crack the cover!
She did such an amazing job keeping you guessing with this story line throughout almost the entire book. While reading I would find myself turning over the mystery in my mind trying to figure it the heck out.
I had many theories which all proved to be wrong but was still an excellent conclusion.
The great thing about Julie's books are how she so totally pulls you into the world that she has so lovingly crafted and you don't even realize how much you have concentrated so solely on the story until you come up for air or maybe a food break ;)
Emma Smallwood has found herself at a loss for how to deal with her father's seemingly endless sad moods since her mother passed away.
He is an excellent tutor, whom she assists, at running a boarding school for boys.
With their last pupil leaving to go on with the next level of his education they have no more students lined up to take his place and her father shows no interest in getting more students to fill the gaping holes in their lively hood.
Emma takes matters into her own hands and prevails upon herself to write a letter to the father of two of their previous students whom she happens to know has two younger sons who have never been sent to their school.
She has quite the shock when the baronet writes back inviting her father to be a tutor in residence so that his sons don't have to leave their mothers home.
Emma accompanies her father on this new quest but has no idea the mystery that shrouds the forbidden mansion that rises imposingly above the jagged cliffs or the old feeling that would be stirred for the Weston boys who did attend her fathers school.
~~~~~~~~~~

Once again I have to highly recommend this novel and almost feel like reading it again myself!
