This review is for the second novel in the Weddings By Design series by Janice Thompson.

I was superbly excited to get the second book in this series. I have read many many novels by Janice and have been superbly thrilled with her writing. She has a way of blending so many different types of characters into a melting pot of personalities and walks of life. While still leaving you feeling like they are all connected somehow no matter the background. I always eagerly turn that first fresh page and prepare to dip my toes into the pool of wonderment Janice creates.

Grab a steaming cup of coffee, tea or cocoa, whichever your heart prefers ;) and join me on this delicious journey.

My only complaint, Ms. Thompson, is the fact that your writing is so descriptive I could almost smell the baked goods and it made me hungry more than once while reading this newest novel!

Scarlet Lindsey works hard for her living but it isn't a hardship in any way. She gets to do what she loves and she always smells good. Her Aunt Willy (who is a book all unto herself I think) has financed her long held dream of opening her own bakery and she is determined that backing will not be in vain. Aunt Willy means well even though she can have a double edged sword as a tongue when speaking to Scarlet.
Besides that fact, things are looking pretty good as far as Scarlet is concerned. Single she might be (and not necessarily loving it) but her bakery now resides in a primo spot on Galveston's most popular street and has the famous Rossi Pizzeria as it's nearest neighbor. She has a wonderful personal and working relationship with famed wedding planner, Bella Neeley and business is booming for them both! There is a bit of a mess, not of the baking kind, however, when Bella's very handsome brother, Armando appears in Scarlet's life. Should she risk everything to follow her heart or stick to the old tried and true? Learning to step out in faith might be Scarlet's greatest lesson to date.

Love At Any Cost

Today's book review focuses on Love At Any Cost by Julie Lessman.
It is book 1 in The Heart of San Francisco series!

I like the fact of how relateable Julie's characters are. For me helps draw you into the story and care about what happens to the characters as they live their lives. That is the mark of a good story.
If you want to keep turning the pages to find out what happens and trying to read faster so you can then you know you have a good book in your hands.

With Every Letter

This book review is for the novel "With Every Letter" by Sarah Sundin.

Anyone who is a fan of Sarah's work will enjoy this book for she has done it again! A great read especially if you like the historical period of WWII.

Not only is Sarah's writing eloquent and descriptive but this book is a beautiful love story.

In a time of war when home fronts have had their husbands, sons, uncles and cousins ripped away for the horror that is war, men face battle weary and lonely looking for even a small bright spot in their very gray days.

One way it was sought to provide this for them was an anonymous, morale building, letter writing exercise pairing a woman with a man to correspond and bring some brightness to the otherwise bleak world they found themselves trapped in.

This very thing which Lt. Mellie Blake very reluctantly takes part in is the very thing that could help change her life forever.

The feeling of anonymity involved in this helps Mellie and Tom, a man who has been trying to escape the infamy that has trailed him for years, to connect in a unique way.

Neither having to reveal their true names brings them closer as they send their letters flying back and forth.

In the end though a choice will have to be made. Will they be strong enough to reveal who they are really are to each other or will they never lift that curtain of secrecy?

You will have to read and find out what our two lovebirds decide! Sarah has done great research and you can easily envision the time and places she is depicting in this novel!

The Pursuit of Lucy Banning

This book review is for the novel "The Pursuit of Lucy Banning" by Olivia Newport.

I really enjoyed this story by Olivia and was sad to see the last page of it turn. I was a little put off by the cover as it was so muted and dark in colors but the story is anything but! Most people might not even think about what the cover looks like but it is one of the primary things that will make me pick up a book off the shelf. I am very glad I did pick up the book and it read it though! If you love historical novels, or even if you have never read one before, pick up a copy for yourself and introduce yourself to Olivia's very realistic characters!

Lucy Banning is essentially living a double life. In one of these lives is the proper engaged socialite that her mother expects her to be. "Thrilled" to be planning her high society wedding and making her mothers wedding rapturous dreams for her daughter come true. In her other life, the real Lucy comes out to play. She is more serious and studious and is secretly attending a college class. One only two people know of. Her loving Aunt Violet and her aunts driver.

This version of Lucy is also the one that dreads being made to give up her charity work and become a trophy wife once she is wed to her parents choice of a suitable husband. When this Lucy, the real Lucy, meets a charming young man, who just so happens to be a friend of her brothers, who she really is without the trappings of the life her mother wants for her come even more sharply into focus than before.

Olivia Newport seamlessly transports you to the world of 1892 and the historic World's Fair in Chicago. You get a sneak peek into the social realm of the upper crust in this time period and are genuinely interested in their lives up until the last page of this great novel! Have you read this book yet?
